Counselling, CBT and Psychotherapy

Counselling and psychotherapy

Our team offers psychotherapy and counselling  in Guildford, Godalming and Dorking, Surrey. Counselling and psychotherapy offer clients the opportunity to gain insight into their psychological difficulties or distress and relationship difficulties, establish a greater understanding of their motivation, find more appropriate ways of coping and develop the tools necessary to bring about changes in their thinking, behaviour and emotional wellbeing. Our counsellors and psychotherapists will work with you to explore an aspect of your life, personality or relationship, or help you reach your goals.

We work using a range of different evidence-based therapies and techniques, including cognitive behavioural, solution focused and mindfulness based cognitive therapy, helping you to explore your past, current or future concerns. We will also work with different modalities dependent on your needs and goals.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a specific therapeutic approach that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave. It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems. It explores how thoughts (cognitions) and what we do (behaviours) affect the way we feel in depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses.

The reasons people seek counselling and psychotherapy are as varied as people themselves, however people often come to therapy because they have encountered distressing or stressful experiences or are suffering from problems in their professional or personal lives, including wanting relationship counselling. Some of the key reasons clients come to see us are:

  • Anxiety, including postnatal anxiety
  • Adjustment to being a parent
  • Birth trauma
  • Birth fear

  • Eating behaviours
  • Fertility issues
  • OCD
  • Parenting issues
